Plastic film issues

Overall it's a good refrigerator. However, the protective plastic coating is very difficult to get off especially around the end points of the doors. Little pieces of plastic film have to be removed with tweezers, very time consuming. I gave it 4/5 stars because we had the exact same model and the compressor only lasted 6 years, one year past its warranty.

I gave a rating of 2 because the icemaker is terrible. It throws ice out when you are trying to fill up your glass while holding it close to dispenser and sometimes it switches over to the water dispenser. If I would of known this I would of bought a Frigidaire.

Currently awaiting a service call for our 2 year old GE Profile refrigerator. First it was the GE profile washer that was 1.2years old-got money back after 4 months of not being able to fix. Now, it's the newest appliance that started with freezer going, now not cooling at all. By the time this service call arrives, we will have lost all the food, and as well patience. Don't know what to say, all appliances these days seem to last way less than the good old days. Buyers beware and prepare-maybe keep another older model in basement for when these new ones fail!

A feature not working upon installation.

It took well over 24 hours for the main refrigerator section to get to the programmed temp. Also after installation, we found out the Adjustable temp drawer does not work. Though under warranty, it's pretty disappointing to have to call the GE service company Bodewell, pay a trip fee to come out and fix it. If it's even fixable. So right off the bat after paying for a frig, a warranty etc, now I have to pay a trip fee to fix something on a brand new appliance to be repaired. There are some good features on the frig or my rating would be much lower.

At first I loved it but than the top pullout drawer of the freezer keeps coming off the track and it takes 2 people to put it back on and it constantly comes off the track the other issue is that it defrosts on its own and have had so much food go to waste like ice cream and meats that thaw and refreeze and the food gets freezer burnt so disappointed in this appliance particular for the $1000™™s of dollars I spent on it!

My review: We recently received a replacement GE Profile 27.9 Cu. Ft. 4-Door French Door Refrigerator (Model PVD28BYNIFS) (Serial #ZA510434) for the unit we purchased from Amazon on March 30, 2026. Unfortunately, the original refrigerator experienced problems almost immediately after installation. The delivery and installation took over two hours and appeared to be handled by an inexperienced team. Within weeks, the refrigerator developed a loud humming noise that could be heard in other rooms, along with ice buildup underneath and along both sides of the freezer drawer. Timeline of service: Refrigerator delivered: 4/3/26 ™ Service request opened: 5/18/26 ™ First repair visit: 5/22/26 (part ordered) ™ Second repair visit: 6/9/26 (technician arrived with incorrect part) ™ Diagnosis: Defective evaporator defrost element On 7/2/26, technician Armando thoroughly evaluated the refrigerator and ordered multiple replacement parts. He was knowledgeable, professional, and returned to install all of them. Despite his efforts, the problem remained unresolved, and the repair was escalated as a repeat repair (Bodewell Case #24377122). We are pleased to report that the replacement refrigerator was delivered 7/19/26 and installed flawlessly. The new installation team completed the job in only 45 minutes and clearly knew what they were doing. What a difference! So far, the replacement unit is performing perfectly. Thank you for standing behind your product and resolving the issue!!

Several Problems/Short Time

We purchased this fairly expensive refrigerator because it had features we wanted - french doors, center drawer, quick access to frequently used item. We have had it for 5 months and it has been a disappointment. The unit originally delivered made a loud noise - like a fan was hitting something and had to be replaced immediately on delivery. Now, the water/ice dispenser has stopped working - first dispensing water uncontrollably which could only be stopped by opening the door and then not working at all. GE is getting someone out to our home for a warranty repair, but I am not impressed with the product so far.

GE Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator Review (After One Month of Use) Overall, I've been satisfied with this GE refrigerator after owning it for about a month. The refrigerator and freezer both maintain temperature well, the layout is practical, and it appears to be a well-built appliance. Food stays fresh, the shelves are functional, and I have not experienced any major issues with cooling performance. However, there are three areas that have been disappointing. The biggest issue is the ice dispenser. It is exceptionally slow. When I press the dispenser lever, the mechanism churns and churns before finally releasing only a few small cubes at a time. Filling a large 32-ounce glass three-quarters full of ice can take well over a minute of continuously holding the lever down. I only use cubed ice, but it seems as though the cubes are not being stored as individual cubes in the ice bin. Instead, they appear to freeze together, forcing the dispenser mechanism to break them apart before pushing them through the chute. The result is a very slow and somewhat frustrating dispensing process. The second issue is the size of the ice cubes. The cubes are noticeably smaller than those produced by many other refrigerator ice makers. This is not a dealbreaker, but larger cubes would be preferable since they tend to last longer in beverages and make filling a glass more efficient. The third issue is an occasional rattling noise. Every so often, the refrigerator develops a periodic rattle that seems to originate from the back of the unit. The noise can continue for five to ten minutes at a time. It does not sound like the normal ice-making cycle, ice filling, or ice dumping process. While it is not loud enough to be alarming, it is noticeable and somewhat concerning given that the refrigerator is still quite new. Despite these concerns, the refrigerator performs its primary functions well, and I am generally happy with it. If GE could improve the speed and quality of the ice dispensing system and address the intermittent rattling noise, I would have no hesitation recommending this model. As it stands, I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. The refrigerator itself is solid, but the ice dispenser experience leaves room for improvement.

Instead of condemning my review maybe ask me why I am so unhappy with my new refrigerator. There is a reason. The guys who installed it pinched the tube carrying water to the water and ice cubes and it would take 10 minutes to get a glass of water and the ice cubes were about 1/2" long!!! NOT NORMAL. They also didn't put in the top freezer door in correctly and it was getting air in the freezer and created gobs of ice in the back of the freezer. So it acted like the drawer was open and created lots of ice and frost.. YOU need to pay attention to your customers who pay a lot of money for your products and expect them to work correctly instead of censuring us because we say something that you don't like!

So far the GE Profile has met with our expectations. Love the quick release door for quick access to condiments. Fridge cooled quickly, produced ice quickly, and we like the autofill water sensor. Only minor issues would be the main left door that has the Ice Maker closes by itself, and the inside extra freezer drawer has a slight resistance to pushing back even though it is in the track. However these are only very, very minor issues and overall we are very happy with the look and performance of the GE product.

I do like this refrigerator but it is not smudge/fingerprint resistant. The right door does not close tight, you ALWAYS have to make sure it is closed tight. It's convenient to be able to get certain things without opening the entire door but it does not close tight. The ice cubes are very small and takes a very long time to make the ice....hence, if you need crushed ice, that takes a very long time to get enough for a drink or smoothie. The bottom drawer will not close tightly either, you ALWAYS have to check that or food will completely defrost.

The only negative is the ice maker. My older GE refrigerator made larger half moon ice cubes and dispensed at a faster rate. This model ice maker makes smaller half moon cubes crushes about a third of them and dispenses at much slower rate. This means that the cubes melt much faster.

This is a great refrigerator that replaced a 10 year old LG. It is very quiet when cooling. The Ice dispenser is kind of messy if you don't place the glass all the way up into the chamber when dispensing. And the water dispenser is a bit off-center, so it tends to miss the hole at the top of a water bottle and splashes all over the front. My major complaint is that the plastic protection wrapping that came when delivered just shreds and leaves small pieces embedded in the corners of the door components. These are next to impossible to remove and look stupid. If anyone has suggestions on HOW to remove, I'm all ears.

Over all, the unit has some great features. The problem is, ice constantly builds up on the underside of the freezer drawer - so every couple weeks I have to chisel ice away. Second, the unit is 2-3 years old and the freezer can't keep a temp of zero or below - always in the 5 -20° range. Third, there is no feature that shows what the current temp is for both units, only a setting temp. I would never buy a GE appliances again. This is the second unit in 14 years. They don't last. They are made to be disposable.

Overall I love this refrigerator, it does its job it does it well it's easy to use I love the door and door it's quiet stays cool easily temperatures consistent. The one complete I have is the ice maker doesn't feel like glasses very quickly and it's small.

We love our new GE refrigerator. It is a little smaller in usable area than our last one but it actually holds more food items because of its superior interior design. The freezer also seems to be bigger. We also love the middle drawer that we use for lunch meat and cheeses. For the water/ice dispenser, wow! It tells you how much water you put in every glass. This has helped us make sure we meet the suggested water intake each day. It also provides cubed or crushed ice. The crushed ice is small enough that we can make a snow cone. We recommend this refrigerator with a score of 10++.

The refrigerator is big and beautiful. It is very nice inside with plenty of light. The shelf spaces are perfect with adjustable shelves and receding shelf. The door in a door may seem like a gimmick but it is nice to be able to quickly access a gal of milk without having to twist and tilt the jug to get it out. It also lets me get to my condiments quickly. The middle drawer seems very sturdy. I do like that the freezer and middle drawer have adjustable dividers that slide left or right. All shelves including freezer and middle drawers are removable for easy cleaning. The control panel is easy to understand and use. Some concerns: the ice maker in cube and crush mode spits ice pieces outside of your container even when holding it close to the exit point. The auto water filler has errored a few times. The housing does not seem to deter the fingerprints. The freezer drawer seems very weak and somewhat unstable. The install says 1/2™ clearance but if it is next to a wall you need about 2™ clearance on that side. The storage on the inside of the left door is minimal. It™™s good for small things. The refrigerator is a little noisy.

Love the fridge, especially the door within the door to access those items we use daily. as well as the interior lighting, the chill drawer, the auto fill, makes lots of ice. Only concern is the drawer mechanism feels a little cheap when opening and closing.

Love this refrigerator! Plenty of room to store everything, and the lighting makes it easy to find whatever you are looking for! The extra door access is handy to access juice, tea etc without opening the whole refrigerator. The freezer is very large and I love the dividers™¦.and the extra drawer for veggies or cheese and meats is a must have. We originally bought a Kitchen Aid refrigerator & returned it because it was not nearly as high quality as the GE Profile. Worth every penny!!!

I purchased it from Lowe™™s and it was delivered today at 2 PM. While the refrigerator seems to be cooling down the freezer is not. Pretty sure it™™s defective. The flex drawer isn™™t cooling down either. It™™s unfortunate that this model doesn™™t indicate the actual temperature like my old GE does. I can™™t believe that this Profile doesn™™t come with that feature. If it did, I would know if it™™s cooling down for sure. I put an external thermometer in the refrigerator and like I said it seems to be cooling down, but the freezer and the flex drawer are not working. And according to the manual, the freezer should feel cold within one hour. I already have a call out to Lowe™™s, the guy that sold it to me is supposed to call me back, but he hasn™™t yet. I™™m probably gonna have to take the day off work tomorrow and go into Lowe™™s to handle.

I cannot stand the ice dispenser. It is slower than molasses in January in North Dakota. I have resorted to removing the ice bin and getting ice from there by hand. We us a lot of ice in my house, this is particularly annoying. Also, the water dispenser does not fit my Stanley 40 ounce tumbler. Several people in my home use this size tumbler, so this is also particularly annoying.

This is a fine refrigerator, our only complaint is that we wish it could have been more efficient for the visually impaired . My mother is legally blind and I have low vision so it's hard for her to use the menu. It's too bad that my brother, who accompanied my mother in purchasing the refrigerator, and the salesperson who assisted them had recognized that one little fact. Either the refrigerator talks to her or she talk to it. Otherwise, the noise level is good, we never hear it until it drops ice. The fingerprint resistance helps in keeping it clean. Also, changing the temperature is easy and stays on what you set it on. Great appliance!

***UPDATE: 7/16/26*** Bodewell repair tech finally arrived after a week and loss of groceries due to faulty refrigerator. He evaluated the fridge, made a repair, claimed it was fixed, and then departed. The freezer is still not working! ***UPDATE: 7/14/26 *** Not only did the icemaker die, the freezer unit itself died, within 10 days of purchase and installation. What a piece of junk! I really regret buying this product. GE owes me for all my lost groceries!!! *** PREVIOUSLY: 7/7/26*** Just bought a brand new GE profile fridge and the icemaker croaked within two weeks. Can anyone make an icemaker that just works? LOL

The refrigerator is very nice and stylish, but the experience was unfortunately marred by the protective blue film the unit ships with. After delivery, I had to remove the door handles just to get the film off. Even then, removing the film from the top and bottom edges of the doors was nearly impossible without taking off the black end caps. Without removing those plates, you simply can™™t get all the remnants of the film out. It™™s unclear why the unit is manufactured with the top and bottom end caps installed over the protective film, but it makes the removal process far more difficult than it should be.

Placing the ice maker in the door cuts down on storage available on the door and makes the interior of the door bulky. Our old GE Profile had the ice maker in the freezer itself, not only allowing for much more usable space in the refrigerator, but also allowing for a lot more ice to be available. It would also be preferable to have the "convertible" drawer get cold enough to be used as a freezer. This model may have 27.9 Cu. Ft. of storage but it is not designed for optimal use of that space.

The ice maker is terrible, it just completely stopped working again for the 2nd time. It only makes a small amount of ice anyway but trying to understand why it just stops making ice is baffling. It will start making ice again in about 24hrs.
